I have worked in education for 12 years or so. I came to Freshwaters Primary (it was known as Broadfields back then) as a trainee and I’ve never left. My love and dedication for this school has grown, year after year, and I can’t imagine working anywhere else.

I have predominately worked in KS2, starting in Years 4 and 5. However, I was asked to work in Year 6 three years into my teaching and no one has been able to get me out since. Being a Year 6 teacher is by far the best and has increased my passion for teaching, you get to watch children grow and mature, ready to enter secondary school. Being their last teacher means you can mould them into responsible and reliable role models for the school.

I’ve always got a passion for literacy and spent many years being the English lead. However, I found my true calling when I applied for the role of senior lead practitioner. This role allows me to work closely with the Head teacher - which I love. It also involves supporting other teachers in the school to become ‘Outstanding’ in their practice. Working alongside and supporting teachers means that I can share my enthusiasm and passion for learning; influencing as many classrooms and having an impact on as many children as I can. I’ve also had the pleasure of mentoring many trainees and NQT’s, guiding them to be reflective and driven teachers no matter what year group they are in.

Anyone who know me knows my interests and loves are giraffes and Harry Potter - I even got to name a Year 6 class Gryffindors, which made my day!!
